Under construction.....
For the time being, here's something for you to think about.
Japanese Judo vocabulary:
Rei = Bow
Hajime = Begin (start)
Matte = wait (stop)
these should know already
Words for the scores:
Ippon = 10 points scored
Waza ari = 7 points scored (remember Judo is strange because two 7s equal 10...)
Yuko = 5 points scored (and two 5s don't equal 10!)
[koka = 3 but this score is being discontinued in international competitions]
General words to do with Judo:
Dojo = the place its done ie. the hall/training centre
Judo gi = Judo suit or uniform
Obi = belt
Tatami = woven covered mat, also used in the home - we don't use them
Technical words:
Tachi waza = throwing
Ne waza = ground work
Osae komi = a pin
Toketa = when a pin is broken, used in a competition
see how many of these you can remember. Test yourself.
