News from the school boys national championships

Well after all the drama of snow, blizzards, school & venue closures. I haven’t had a chance to put up the outstanding news of our latest results at the HMC (Head Master’s Conference- champs for senior private schools) up on the website yet. They took place last Saturday the 24th February, at the High Wycombe Judo Centre.

Kings out for the first time.

We’ve had just three boys from Kings School Bruton entered. One in the under 66kg, one in the under 73kg and one in the over 81kg catagory. It all started very well, as all three boys won their first fight. Unfortunately the second ones did not go quite as well, a loss by both the lighter weights. At this point I had to leave due to our Saturday training.

I got the results I from the organisers which, told of great success. Our heavy weight went on to win Gold and the under 73 managed a Bronze! The points tally from this meant that the ‘team’ came third overall! A national result! Better than I could have ever expected! The whole lead up to this comp is very much a trial by Kings to see if we can run a full on Judo Training Programme.
